Jimmy Wear (aka “Big Daddy”) was born and raised on Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina. He’s always had a passion for cooking and duly served as the head chef for the 118th Infantry of the National Guard in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina for several years, using his fellow service men as Guinnea pigs for some of his early dishes (nobody complained--that much!)

After his military service, he soon realized his lifelong dream of becoming the Chief of Police on Sullivan’s Island. Jimmy then proceeded to develop National Investigators and Security, a company he later sold to Wells Fargo in 1992. Jimmy eventually went into real estate and development where he still does consulting work today. He has several community developments to his credit in the coastal areas of southern South Carolina.

With his wife Jackie, Jimmy raised two fine sons, Jim, Jr. and Kevin. Not eager to retire, Jimmy has worked closely with both of them while they have grown and expanded their careers: Jim, Jr. is the Founder of Lifemax, and Kevin is a Global Distributor for Lifemax and the Director of Sales for a vacation company.

Back to cooking...
With some experimentation, Jimmy developed specially blended seasoning rubs featuring Mila as the base ingredient. Mila--the flagship product of his son’s company, Lifemax--is known for its superior Omega 3 content, an essential nutrient necessary for good health. This discovery soon paid off as he learned the unique characteristic of Mila in which it creates a seasoning ‘paste’ that adheres to fish and meats during the cooking process, sealing in natural juices making his “Big Daddy” recipes that much more delicious! Along with his friend, Paul Sanders, the owner of LowCountry Spices on Hilton Head Island, Jimmy created the twelve proprietary rub blends that are featured throughout Big Daddy’s Seafood Favorites.
